Bus rides, almost suicides and the weekly round up

For those who have been with me and my blog for a while know that I prefer to take public transport as opposed to any other transport (just because I have a driving license doesn’t mean that I have to drive.) plus driving in Colombo streets during the busy hours are both stressful and annoying and I’d just get high blood pressure. Anyway, I ride the bus to work and back, my work site is actually close to where I live considering I had to take 3 buses to get to class and back when I was doing my degree full-time on week days, the distance is around 8 to 10 km, and around that time the busses are packed with both office workers and school kids desperate to get to school before 7.30 in the morning, since my shift normally starts at 7.30 I get on the bus by 7 and get to work by 7.20, except on Wednesdays and there is a safety meeting and I don’t want to get late, so these buses are often packed to the gills with people in ironed office clothes, ladies in make up, guys with expensive phones, school children in the usual white and neat hair, and when they get off they look like a used napkin with a million and one creases, sweat stains that are probably not your own and the usual morning irritation. These usual things don’t really annoy me to the point of actually giving a damn because I wear jeans and a shirt to work, and I get even dirtier there so, I don’t mind the crumpling, unless someone touches my hair, unless the bus driver conveniently forgets my change, I know that I should not be stingy for a few rupees but it is my right as a citizen of my country and as a faithful customer of public transport and I deserve the respect even if it is that 1 rupee that you forget Mr. Conductor . And then there is the chance of an increase in bus fare, next month, ugh.

I also have the bad habit of nearly getting hit by vehicles and then escaping death by the skin of my teeth, even though I look both ways and cross my brain and my legs are on a different frequency, by the time my brain says to wait a few minutes, well I have already crossed the road and in the process given a few drivers a few shocks and the saner part of my mind which hides behind all the clutter of day to day stupidity is quietly whimpering. I did get hit by a car once, more like bounced off its hood, and what I did was run like hell of the road and down the lane to campus, it wasn’t because I was scared of getting yelled at by the drivers and pedestrians It had more to do with me wanting to use the powder room and not missing my classes.

Well other than that my life has been ULTRA boring this week, except when I went and came back from my supervisor’s mother’s funeral which was 253 km – that was like 4 and a 1/2 hours there, and back, so 9 hours travel, and my back is hurting.

imageAnd no the map doesn’t show exact directions so yeah…

I need to get a truck load of stuff done, mostly my studies, then there are my own side projects art-wise and my super Birthday project which I’m working on for my niece (I hope to all that is holy that I can finish this on time)

Well currently other than that I can say anything other is more interesting, I’ve been listening to a lot of alternative recently, some weird rap stuff and who knows, these days I’m usually too tired to push the next button on my iPod and will listen to what ever is next of my playlist.

IMG00455-20130205-1333

Oh yeah and here is like part of what makes my office a bit speshul, so mostly while I spend time on the construction site and in the workshop, my supervisor and I have a small office on top of the workshop, these critters in the tank are right infront of me, yeahh we have fish in the office, 16 to be precise.

Anyway I see that today is indeed the 29 and I remember having a post on Game of Thrones season 1 and going Gaga over it, now I cant wait for season 3.

Well I’m going to leave it at that and will report to my readers next week, Auf Wiedersehen

HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN

Its been like what almost 3 years since my last post? what the facukramadghvds anyways Lets see whats new with me:

1) I’m done with my HND currently waiting on my results, for those who do not know the    HND is equivalent to the first two years of a degree

2) I am now enrolled in a top-up BEng which is for one year and therefore I will be a degree holder by the time I’m 21 (internal yay)

3)I am also working at a construction site, I’m sort of an assistant supervisor I do say sort of since I’m still in my training period, and yeah I am getting paid, a tiny amount, but I’m still getting paid neh

4)hmm lemme see, so many things have happened and so many things I have done Open-mouthed smile also I have another kitten, Cleo

So yeah that’s been happening, its been a hard year so far. I have no free time to speak of. I work during the weekdays and on the weekends I have classes, all the way from 8.30 in the morning to 5.30 in the evening, And knowing me I hate not having free time, at all.

I do find the time to watch my weekly shows, well most of the time I do, I keep up with Supernatural, then with Psycho Pass and tamako market which are both animes, I’m still waiting to get some free time to finish watching magi and chihayafuru.

8268354519_42887d06de_ovlcsnap-2013-03-03-08h20m00s45

I did watch the hobbit which was awesome, at first I thought that all hobbits looked like Gimli, then I saw the Hobbit and was like THAT IS A HOBBIT? and this lead me to watch North and South, the period drama because Richard Armitage is HAWTNESSSS.

vlcsnap-2013-03-03-08h21m50s140

And Rise of the Guardians was motherlovin’ awesome and possibly one of my favourite cartoons EVAH, and Hotel Transylvannia was cute. I’m waiting to watch paranorm, epic (I think that’s what its called) then warm bodies, beautiful creatures and all that.

Personally, there’s been a lot going on in my lift, its not all a bed of roses, or a walk in the park, its hard and its even harder to keep at it. But for the sake of my sanity and for a promise I made to myself I will definitely keep going, even though there is a voice in the back of my head, whining at me to give up, to stay home and become a lump in front of my keyboard, I try to change, because I don’t want that. I want to be independent and free, to be able to make my own decisions and to take on any possible consequences that follow, I don’t want to be the girl who couldn’t take care of herself, because I can, and I will.

One more year and my studies are over, one more year that’s what I’m hoping to survive without going mad with the responsibilities of work and all the other mad things that follow in my life.

I have a dream of putting up a café, it is going to be marvellous, its going to have coffee, books and wifi, and maybe a large screen to watch movies or anime, a satge for random performers and all the cool things that follow, this is the dream I aim at, for some people their dream is their first million, for me this is my dream the crazy one that follows and the crazy one that needs to be fulfilled somehow.

Did I tell anyone about my adorabubble niece, she’s as fine as apple pie, 11 moths and cute as a bloody button, she headbangs to random music (I think that’s her version of dancing), she goes crazy over chocolate(shes banned from having it anymore), and she gets hypnotised when my sister starts singing that song “Little Peter Rabbit”. That kid is gonna be a handful Open-mouthed smile. and I love her to bits.

So that’s pretty much what I have so far, but I will definetley update sooner, as I have found this funky windows live writer, handy it is.

Till next time, Sayo

Cricket Fever, Breathing Easy and Attempting to Stay Awake at Lectures

Man, Am I relieved that the project work is over and the fact that I haven’t any pending assignments…ahh, so no more staying after lectures to finished that bleeding thing, though I have to admit, it’s quite awesome looking.

The lectures…my god I was falling asleep in most, no offense to the lecturers but I found it extremely hard to keep my eyes from closing other than drinking water and praying that time goes faster.

What’s on my mind these days...well what’s on anyone’s minds these days, the cricket fever of course, my dear Sri Lanka is now off to the finals (GO LIONS!!!), practically everyone is praying for a return of the cup to us and a replay of that fateful match in ’96, we’ve seen some good playing this time, hopefully the finals are this weekend and then ;D

Even the lectures were forgotten due to the matches
You can even see our lecture in on corner..

Well, I’m also currently waiting for “the game of thrones” to start, the awesome Fire and Ice series by George R. R. Martin plays host to the first book Game of thrones, the teaser videos and character profiles seem detailed ad the actors in full character mode and everyone seems to be putting a lot of effort into the series to make it look awesome and it certainly does, but it does also give an uncomfortable itchiness that something might be wrong and make the whole thing flop…but we can never say.

Just today after our work my team mates and I were just talking about ghost stories and different horror movies …
The Exorcist – will always take first place

Paranormal activity 1 & 2 – Creep Mania
Shutter – O.O

SAW series – personally I’m not a very big fan

Last weekend we celebrated hashashins birthday and needless to say it was awesome, the whole lot of wacky personalities in one area are bound to result in loads of laughs. We were watching megamind and I have to say the whole thing was an awesome movie and the writers should be awarded since they took it in a different approach, giving the POV of the Evil Genius, Who I think is absolutely brilliant. And I love his minion, Minion.
It’s very hot here in SL these days, practically boiling sometimes, and at night it’s inevitable for anyone to not sweat a lot. and travelling in buses in this weather is quite tiring, these days I was dead on my feet the work, lectures, the busses , the weather and my chores, sleeping at 11pm in the night didn’t help much either.

Just yesterday I sat for the writing part of my driving exam, let me give a small piece of advice to anyone trying to get a driving license in Sri Lanka, get ready to stay in queue’s for a long time, endure the cramped spaces, have enough patience with extremely rude and unhelpful RMV employees. Come to think of it most of the road rules of Sri Lanka are common sense nothing much different. So now I got to get ready to go for driving lessons tomorrow morning.
The New Years coming up now, I can’t wait, the food, the gifts….the money gifts..;D for those who are not familiar, Sri Lanka celebrates the Sinhala and Tamil New Year in April (specifically April 13th and 14th) eating food at the auspicious times, boiling the milk and looking towards the auspicious direction, visiting family and friends…the sweet foods (kawun, kokis, asmi, etc) .

Anyways before I say arredevici, I’ll leave a few music videos for you to check out.
Tok Tok – Mighty Mouth

Before You Go –TVXQ [cinematic version]

Jar of Hearts –Christina Perri

Let Me Go – Three doors down (old but awesome)

Well anyways, Until next time, stay safe, cheer for the lions
and sayonara

Isengard, Extreme Angst, Semester beginnings and BLEACH addictions

You know those certain people who exist to annoy the crap out of you every turn in your life, the ones that piss you off just by existing. Hmph, I've got one of them, I really don't hate that person but neither do I appreciate his existence. He's like a friggin' drop of crude oil, in a nice iced glass of lemonade, makes you want to swear off lemonade for life....

I'm kinda pissed off this whole week, and kinda put off since the last week, bugger it. I'm trying to find the calm, and not give a damn, I've got too many responsibilities than I'd care for, and too many people depend on me, I hate that, people might think me cruel, or crude but that's how I flow, I don't like people who take but do not give.  Pissing those kind of people off is a special hobby I have, and when they speak...I zone out, my brain no longer gives a damn.

Had to give a presentation this week then at the last moment my lecturer says that there was no time, and am unable to give it, chee, I did prepare for it lots but what to do, I was kinda disappointed, but no matter it seems I have to give it to a much bigger audience the next time, eugh and there would be parents, dayum...whatever,  I just know that our team's project would be a total WIN.. =P, no offense to other teams, but You see I'm Biased..

Ehh, my modules start next week, and so I'm kinda free now that only the project has to be worked on and we're making good time, I might be able to get some drawings and stuff done...and evidently I'm part of the literary club...to which we're supposed to find a new name, and perform something on the 26th...err

Not much thinking or doing working on this mural for my wall....have driving lessons tomorrow so I have to get up early...again

I don't have much time to write alot, but I'll try to update faster...

The videos for this post

until next time

M

If the pic doesn't tip you off, I'm currently back on my BLEACH addiction face, you gotta admit, having an epic battle scene in almost every episode is quite awesome....by the way this lovely specimen would be Shinji Hirako, Vizard, Ex-Division 5 captain, and all-round Smart ass

Bus Etiquette, screwed by a maths paper and sunday markets

Kind of a really melancholic week this was, there were the good days and there were the not so good, its Tuesday the second day of the week and it feels hella weird, I feel like I have to do something but seriously forgot what...it was something important..hmm, anyways I think everyone might get it when I say that these last couple of days feel like in-between days, the days which are in between of two more important and exciting events. Tch....

As I have previously said before, traveling by bus in Sri Lanka is a quite educational experience, and most of the time very tiring. Here are a couple of tips to keep in mind when going by bus.

1)If you are working or schooling try to go earlier to avoid the Rush hour. [roughly
7am to 8.30am, 1.30pm to 2.30pm, and 4.45pm to 6pm]

2)Always have change available, if the bus is crowded the conductor might take your
money and tell to ask when you're getting off but some conductors are just plain
stingy to give you the balance, so always remember to ask for the balance. [comes
from experience, I get seriously ticked off when I don't get my change, because I
normally rely on that for the next bus I take

3) Good shoes, wear shoes with a good grip at the bottom if you end up standing in
most of the buses that you travel in, its both uncomfortable to you and to the people
beside you when you are slipping and sliding and about to fall down.

4) Pockets, remember to make sure all your valuables are inside your bag and not in a
spot that are easy pickings for the bus thieves.

5) Personal space (mainly for the ladies), my mom regularly tells me 'bout the
hazards of traveling in a bus, ladies I encourage you to make sure that when you're
sitting there are no wardrobe malfunctions, slips or roll ups, if possibly sit with other
ladies and keep aware of who you're sitting next to...

6) B/O, Come on people, no offense but I know that you have experienced such a
situation like the lady next to you reaching for the top pole who is simultaneously
giving or noxious fumes...remember that this is public transport...deodorants are that
expensive....Also smokers please...I personally cant stand the fumes or smoke on
clothes...or excess cologne, perfume, etc..

Oh and by the way ladies...and guys I know you like to play the fool in the buses and

have indirect flirting...for example:

Girl on seat in bus - guy and friends get in bus - girl being shy and polite doesn't
make eye contact with said guys - guys make indirect comments and say stupid
stories to see if girl is listening (like saying machan marai ne {trans : hey dude, no
that's fine eh?} or some really ridiculous funny story) - if girl smiles or gives hint of
listening or paying any attention...well lets say..its gonna be hella embarrassing and
really uncomfortable....

P.S. turn your bluetooth off in the bus, sometimes certain files cant be sent to your
mobile if you haven't restricted access to your mobile via bluetooth...you might end
up with something nasty in your phone.

In other news, I had a maths exam today...one which i really did neglect to study
really hard to...so needless to say...I was screwed...very screwed..but no matter..I hoe,
since the bridging isn't really important, compared to what comes after, we're
supposed to be passed...well that is all dead and buried.

I went marketing with my mum at the malabe Pola {the weekend market at malabe}
now anyone can write poems about the pola, Its so bright and vivid, with so many
vendors shouting the prices of their goods, vegetables, fruits, dry fish, fish, rice, meat
all in one place, loud crowded and an artists paradise...I would have take a few
pictures if my arms hadn't already been occupied by the marketing my mum was
doing.

So here I am, it 10 in the night and I'm really tired, but I have to wait for my nail
polish to dry off, its metallic dark blue if you're wondering, I'm simultaneously
reading Cal Leandros by Rob Thurman...again, the first book nightlife, I've read all
five and I hear that there's a sixth coming out, I also recently finished reading eight
of the 9 Hollows books by Kim Harrison...waiting to get the 9th, Pale Demon..
For All I know there are a whole lotta awesome books being released this year

And how can I even forget..Big Bangs latest album is out this week..and those teasers
they put out..sheesh...hurry up already

Kahi's Come back you bad person...I dont get the name of the song but this is

certainly awesome and she is an absolutely fantastic dancer.

G.Na's Black and White

Emo rants, Poe and fictional weapons of mass destruction

Sometimes I feel that pretending to be happy is way too tiring, but the thing is, I'm very good at it. Very good at pretending, pretending to be happy, pretending to be satisfied with this life, pretending that everything is alright, damn I sound so emo, but I really need to get it all out, no amount of chocolate is gonna make me feel better when I am in one of my mood sings, damn. I hate not knowing that there is no one that I can rely on one hundred percent....Wait I think i understand my reson for this sappy cow poop...ahh, i've been reading Poe again, hmm, nothing to get you more depressed that Poe and cook..

By the way...I so want my own Sub Zero Canon, now to have one of those would be really really awesome, or an ion cannon, or a plasma cannon, or anything with large destructive power, not to mention a Dimension Tide...Way to many sci-fi movies, cartoon and books.

Ehh, creationg a revolving building isnt as easy as it seems, and having it balanced and no look like the leaning tower of pisa is just as problematic, no matter, I know my team and I will pull through, a bunch of really wacky guys, but definetely saner than me.

Travelling in the bus is pretty much the only independence that my parents even let me have, though entertaining most of the time, there are a few times it can get a bit messy, for instance there was the woman who kept stepping on my foot, excuse me, my FEET with her freaky high heels, then there was the stinky old man, and the pregnant woman =/

One of my besties recently departed to malaysia for his studies, gonna miss him and the wacky things we used to talk about, but I'm gonna congratulate him about the new independence the hot chicks he might meet and the awesome uni life that he will be able to experience

Oh and by the way, I desperately need to get some cash, and absolutely no reason to play french, I wanna ask Nutzy and Hashashin for EVIL conspiring

0Oh hell, I just remembered the zombie ninja song
"We are ninja's who eat brains
We are zombies wielding swords,
we are pretty much invisible
when we travel in hordes
We are zombies who move fast
We are ninja's from the dead
We are basically gonna eat your head.

now its playing in my head, not to mention the robot pirate song..."Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of RAM" These marvelous tunes are a a product of songstowearpantsto

BTW here's Perfect Weapon by Black Veiled Brides who I think are absolutely awesome

And for some reason Youtube has blocked all ways of downloading videos off youtube so my youtube downloader is not worth a crackpot now, so I'm using Freecorder 4 from Appilan which saves the videos which have already been saved in the browsers whatnot, I dont know much about IT mumbo jumbo, just that it works out perfectly fine...

And while everything else is just peachy check out Bi Rain's Hip Song, he definetely pits the hip in the Song ;)

And here is Infinite's Before the Dawn, I dont get the video much but the fight scene's make up for it

I've got to go now, being a good girl and all, I have to get up all early like, so I say Sayonara, and tip my invisible cap towards the Sri Lankan Cricket Team, the awesome SL performers including B&S and Iraj and Bryan Adams who continues to rock this earth and still look fierce

Stay safe kids...mwaz M
